How to Install

Add from Chrome Web Store
Click "Add to Chrome" on the Chrome Web Store listing. Confirm by clicking "Add extension" in the popup.

Open ChatGPT or Claude
Navigate to chatgpt.com or claude.ai. The extension activates automatically on these pages.

Type a prompt
Start typing in the chat input box. After 2–3 seconds of inactivity, FixMyPrompt will appear if your prompt can be improved.

Follow the prompts
A small balloon appears with your prompt's score and an "Improve with Questions" button. Tap chips to answer 3 quick questions, then accept the improved prompt.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't the balloon appearing?
A few reasons this can happen:
- Your prompt already scores well — if the extension detects a well-structured prompt, it shows a ✓ checkmark instead of the improvement balloon.
- The balloon already appeared in this conversation — it only shows once per new conversation to avoid being disruptive.
- Page loaded before the extension — try refreshing the page and typing again.
- The prompt is too short — prompts under ~10 characters are ignored.
Why does the balloon only appear on my first message?
This is intentional. FixMyPrompt focuses on improving your initial prompt — the one that sets the direction of the entire conversation. Once you're in a back-and-forth with the AI, the extension steps back to avoid interrupting your flow. Use the ✨ Improve button (top-right of the input box) at any time for manual improvement.
Does FixMyPrompt work on Claude?
Yes! FixMyPrompt works on both ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) and Claude (claude.ai). If you're having trouble on Claude specifically, try refreshing the page — Claude's UI sometimes loads in a way that requires a refresh for the extension to attach properly.
Is my data safe? Do you store my prompts?
No. Your prompts are processed in real-time to generate improvements and are immediately discarded. We never write your prompts to a database or log file. No account is required. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
The questions feel generic — not specific to my prompt.
This usually happens when the original prompt is extremely vague (e.g. just "write an email"). The more context you give in your initial prompt, the more specific the questions will be. If you see generic questions, try adding a few more words to your prompt before triggering the balloon.
The domain badge shows the wrong category.
Domain detection is based on keyword and phrase analysis and can occasionally misclassify prompts that sit between two categories (e.g. a marketing email could be "Business" or "Creative Writing"). The questions are still useful even if the domain is slightly off — they're generated from your actual prompt text, not just the domain label. We're actively improving accuracy.
The ✨ Improve button is greyed out / disabled.
The manual Improve button is currently disabled for follow-up messages in an existing conversation (context-aware improvements for follow-ups are coming in the next version). It is available on new conversations. The balloon flow (automatic detection) handles the first prompt.
Does it work on Gemini / Perplexity / other AI tools?
Not yet. FixMyPrompt currently supports ChatGPT and Claude. Support for Gemini is on our roadmap. If you'd like to see a specific platform supported, let us know via the contact form below.

Yes, completely free. No account required, no credit card, no trial period.
